Page 2: The hunger artist has been demoted to a sideshow attraction at a circus, ignored by the masses for the more entertaining animals.

Page 3: The hunger artist sits forgotten in his cage. As he dies of an unsafe, uninterrupted fast, he finally finds vindication in perfecting his art.

Page 4: As attendants of the circus carry off the now deceased hunger artist, a young panther has already been brought in to take his place.

Page 5: The panther has fully taken the place of the hunger artist, much to the delight of the audience. The crowd enjoys the revelry of the feast, instead of the dedication of hungering.
